Our Political Differences, Now Matter How Sharply They Are Debated, Are Really Quite Narrow In Comparison To The Remarkably Durable National Consensus On Our Founding Convictions.

In Prison, I Fell In Love With My Country. I Had Loved Her Before Then, But Like Most Young People, My Affection Was Little More Than A Simple Appreciation For The Comforts And Privileges Most Americans Enjoyed And Took For Granted. It Wasn't Until I Had Lost America For A Time That I Realized How Much I Loved Her.

We've Got To Start Also Holding People Accountable, And We've Got To Reward People Who Succeed. But Somehow In Washington Today - And I'm Afraid On Wall Street - Greed Is Rewarded, Excess Is Rewarded, And Corruption - Or Certainly Failure To Carry Out Our Responsibility Is Rewarded.

But Certainly In The Short Term, Or Even The Long Term, I Would Not Support Repeal Of Roe V. Wade, Which Would Then Force X Number Of Women In America To [undergo] Illegal And Dangerous Operations.

I Respect Sarah Palin. I Appreciate Her And Her Husband Enormously. I Think She Will Continue To Play A Major Role In The Future Of The Republican Party.
