Religious Moderation Is The Direct Result Of Taking Scripture Less And Less Seriously. So Why Not Take It Less Seriously Still? Why Not Admit The The Bible Is Merely A Collection Of Imperfect Books Written By Highly Fallible Human Beings.

Our Moral Reasoning Is Plagued By Two Illusions. The First Illusion Can Be Called The Wag-the-dog Illusion: We Believe That Our Own Moral Judgment (the Dog) Is Driven By Our Own Moral Reasoning (the Tail). The Second Illusion Can Be Called The Wag-theother-dog's-tail Illusion: In A Moral Argument, We Expect The Successful Rebuttal Of An Opponent's Arguments To Change The Opponent's Mind. Such A Belief Is Like Thinking That Forcing A Dog's Tail To Wag By Moving It With Your Hand Will Make The Dog Happy.

Hope Is Easy; Knowledge Is Hard. Science Is The One Domain In Which We Human Beings Make A Truly Heroic Effort To Counter Our Innate Biases And Wishful Thinking. Science Is The One Endeavor In Which We Have Developed A Refined Methodology For Separating What A Person Hopes Is True From What He Has Good Reason To Believe.

As An Atheist, I Am Angry That We Live In A Society In Which The Plain Truth Cannot Be Spoken Without Offending 90% Of The Population.

Our World Is Fast Succumbing To The Activities Of Men And Women Who Would Stake The Future Of Our Species On Beliefs That Should Not Survive An Elementary School Education.
